Friends of the City of Sheffield Youth Orchestra

Virtually none of the activities and achievements mentioned on this website would have been possible without the ongoing support of parents and friends in both practical and monetary areas.  The Friends of the City of Sheffield Youth Orchestra Ltd. is a body which oversees the financial structures of the CSYO and offers practical help at courses and concerts as well as having an advisory role in future planning.

It was evident soon after the orchestra’s foundation in 1985 that we could not rely on financial support from the local authority. The foundation of the FCSYO as a limited company and then its achievement of Charitable status gave it a firm base from which to ensure that no regular member was prevented from attending courses and tours for financial reasons. Siblings pay a reduced rate, and in its efforts to subsidise those who can demonstrate a financial difficulty it has received valuable support from the Church Burgesses.
