Frequently asked questions
How do I join?
Download an application form from this website. It is advisable to send in your application at any point during the year although the bulk of auditions are held around October/November, so do send in good time for this. If vacancies arise during a season the received application forms can come in very useful.
Will I get to know people?
YES! The CSYO is known throughout the country as one of the friendliest orchestras there are. We also have a mentoring system that helps with integration into the orchestra.
Will I be good enough?
You need to be of a minimum standard (that is indicated on the application form). The auditions are unfortunately competitive. We sometimes find ourselves auditioning say 6 post grade 8 flautists, all of whom would be technically (and musically) suitable, but unfortunately there are only limited places to fill in an orchestra.
What if I can't afford the fees?
All the courses are heavily supported financially by the Friends of the CSYO (the parents support body), however all members are sent a further form which can be completed by parents and sent in to a subcommittee which usually has money to further support members when there is financial hardship at home.
How can I support csyo?
The best way is to become a patron. Secondly to come to all the concerts and thirdly to email us to let us have constructive ways you feel we can improve the orchestra and its image.
Where can I buy tickets?
There is a page on this website giving all details on ticket sales. |
